The sporter configuration of the Model 52 rifle was produced by Winchester between 1934 and 1958. It went through the same improvements as the Target Rifle. This particular rifle is a very rare and early "Pre-A" Series. It features a hooded bead front sight with a receiver mounted Lyman adjustable peep sight at the rear. The two Winchester proof marks are offset to the left of the barrel and receiver. The barrel is marked on the left side with the model and caliber as well as the trade mark and proof steel markings. The serial number is located on the left side of the receiver ring with the trade mark on the right. The right side of the barrel is marked with the two line Winchester address with the patent dates on the right side of the receiver at the rear. "SPORTING" is marked on the bottom of the gun in front of the trigger guard. Polished bolt with a detachable magazine and quick release sling swivels. Complete with one piece select walnut checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with a raised cheekpiece and black plastic forend tip, hard rubber grip cap and checkered steel buttplate.

Excellent with 98% of the original blue finish remaining and some light surface scratches and finish loss on the underside of the rifle at the trigger guard and magazine. A few areas of the barrel markings are light possibly due to a light stamp. The wood is excellent with light pressure dents and handling marks.
