Description:

The 35 Auto was introduced in 1913 and manufactured until 1921 with a total production of only 8,350 pistols. This model was Smith & Wesson's first attempt at manufacturing a semi automatic pistol. The pistol is chambered for the one time only, and eventual major downfall of the pistol, 35 S&W cartridge. The left side of the barrel is marked "35 S&W AUTO CTG", the S&W trade mark appears on both sides at the rear of the frame and the left side of the frame is inscribed "L.H. CAMPBELL" (a search of the internet found numerous L.H. Campbell's). The revolver has a 3 1/2 inch barrel, seven shot magazine, fixed sights and two safeties, a revolving cam on the back strap and a grip safety on the front strap. The pistol is fitted with smooth high gloss varnished walnut grips with gold S&W medallions. Complete with an original green hinge lid box with end label marked "SMITH & WESSON / 35 AUTOMATIC / 3 1-2 INCH BLUE". Also comes with a S&W letter signed by author and historian Roy Jinks giving a brief history of the model 1913 and that it was shipped on June 2, 1913 and delivered to the office of Victor H. Wesson, a grandson of V.B. Wesson, founder of Smith & Wesson.

Rating Definition:

Near new with only the slightest handling evidence. The box is excellent with a few minor scuffs in the paper on the bottom and a torn corner on the lid. The interior has some light wear and stains. An exceptionally nice first year production Model 1913 pistol with an original box and Wesson Family association. The only known factory presentation 35 Automatic.
