A) Scarce Imperial Japanese Type 38 Rifle Manufactured by Jinsen Arsenal

Description:

The 6.5 mm, type 38 was designed by famed arms inventor Kijiro Nambu and was adopted by Imperial Japan in 1905. the receiver of this rifle is marked "38 Type" indicating its adoption during the 38th year of Meiji. The receiver is also marked with the imperial chrysanthemum, 30th series mark, serial number, and symbol of the Jinsen Army Arsenal. The bolt handle, safety, dust cover, and floor plate are matched to the last three digits of the serial number. The firing pin and bayonet lug are unnumbered. The ejector and extractor are matched to the assembly number, 961. the bolt and cleaning rod are in-the-white. The floor plate release, trigger, ejector spring, and rear sight leaf spring are strawed. The remainder of the metal parts are blued.

Rating Definition:

This rifle is in very good condition with approximately 85% of the original metal finish remaining. The tip of the cleaning rod and floor plate exhibits brown patina. The straw parts are somewhat muted. The royal chrysanthemum is completely intact. The wood is in excellent original condition with clear inspection marks; however, the inspection marks indicate that the stock may be a period replacement. The stock has some dents and bruises which are typically found on Japanese rifles. The bore is bright with strong rifling.
