Description:

Constructed from brown/ gray felt, with the signature creased crown. Either side is punched with the "snowflake" pattern vent holes, a black and gold cord with gold acorns is wound around the ribbed silk hatband. The edge of the brim is not sewn, indicative of private purchase, a common practice of the era. The inside is fitted with a 2" wide leather sweatband. Hanging from the right side of the crown is a patriotic ribbon with "COMMITTEE" in gold, which ends with a brass framed picture of a infantry volunteer officer, marked "J.H. SHAW/ 1326 ARCH ST./ PHILA.". Possibly from a reunion, no research on the ribbon has been done at this point.

Rating Definition:

In excellent condition with minor wear. Crisp officer photo.
