Description:

1) The pipe measures 5 1/4" and is a combination of amber, wood, and metal. The metal is decorated with a cut-out wreath design and is used to connect the amber to the wood and on the top edge of the bowl. On the wood is a very crude carving that reads "MAY 8 '98, CHIKAMAUGA, GA,LEXINGTON, KY, CONCORD, NH.". The 'H' of NH is barely visible due to decorative grooves in the wood. 2) The dagger measures 16" with the blade being 11 1/4" and is made of iron with the handle carved out of wood. The handle does have some simple decorative carving with leaves, a cross and some hatching. The dagger has the original leather sheath and there is a tag with the original provenance of the item, "PRESENTED TO H.K. MINICH, JUNE 1, 1915, BY ROY SN---R OF WILKE-BARRE, WHO RECEIV-- IT FROM HIS UNCLE C. HITCHLER, WHO, SECURED IT IN CUBA DURING THE, SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR.". 3) The belt measures 35 3/4" by 2 1/5" and is made of brown leather with a patterned burgundy corduroy fabric stitched to the front. The belt buckle is leather covered metal and is secured with leather to the belt. On the belt are a variety of Spanish metal insignia, mostly buttons that have been hand-sewn on. The buttons are spaced about every 1 1/2".

Rating Definition:

1) The pipe is in fair condition with the amber being loose and the metal is discolored from use. 2) Dagger is in fair condition with the blade be covered in rust and the leather sheath having cracks and coming undone. The handle of the dagger also has some cracks in the wood and the engraving is barely visible on one of the sides. 3) the belt is in good condition with some cracking of the leather. The fabric has minimal discoloration and wear. The buttons have some discoloration and tarnishing, but no visible damage to them.
