Description:

The top of the barrel behind the rear sight is marked "SOFT FOREIGN STEEL - SPECIALLY MADE / TO REDUCE FOULING FOR / "FIELD" RIFLE COMPANY BIRMINGHAM", British proofs appear on the breech end of the barrel as well as the serial number on the right side and "52" on the left. There are no receiver markings. Equipped with a inverted "V" front sight and adjustable rear sight graduated to 1,000 meters and marked "100 200 300 400" on the right side of the base. Smooth full length forearm with a steel end cap, bayonet lug on the front barrel band, steel buttplate, cleaning rod with a swollen end and patch slot and a leather sling. Complete with a pattern 1887 bayonet with a leather and brass scabbard. The bayonet is numbered "9569".

Rating Definition:

Arsenal refinished with almost all of the finish remaining. The stock is very good with a few overall scattered minor dents and dings. The sling is excellent. The bayonet is very good with some spots of discoloration and some minor scuffs and scratches. The scabbard is very good with an aged patina on the tip and throat, some minor age cracking and tight stitching. Markings and proofs are clear. Mechanically fine.
