Description:

This was the primary rifle used by Spanish troops during the Spanish American War which was far superior to the Springfield trapdoors the U.S. troops were carrying . The Model 1893 is often considered one of the finest arms Mauser ever produced, the Model 1893 was used in designing the U.S. 1903 bolt action rifle. This is a good example of a combat used 1893 bolt action rifle with history. Fixed front sight with folding graduated rear sight. The receiver ring is marked with a Spanish crest over "BERLIN 1896". The serial number is all matching and marked on the left side of the receiver, left side of the stock, the top of the bolt and partial number "31" on the floor plate. The left side of the receiver behind the serial number is marked "MAUSER ESPANOL MODELO 1893/ MANUFACTURA LOEWE BERLIN". The right side of the buttstock features a "3 X 5" glued paper label which at one time fully detailed the rifle’s entire capture history but has darkened significantly over time, leaving it very hard to read. Different lighting may produce different results. Complete with cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Fine. All metal surface are a mottled dark brown patina with spotting and handling marks scattered. All markings are very good and visible. The stock shows typical type wear and has darkened to a smooth luster with pressure marks and scratches scattered throughout. An interesting piece with intriguing history.
