Description:

1) Two match safes. The first: A very premium specimen. Bright silvery finish. Face has high relief bust of Admiral Dewey applied to center, bordered with profuse rococo scroll work. Reverse has advertising for a New York Hotel. Also has rococo scroll work border. Extremely handsome piece in prime condition. Inside is a striker plate. Opens like a book. The second: Silvery finish border framing faux mother-of-pearl background with central panel featuring billowing American flag. Reverse side has identical panel around Liberty head. Lid on one end. Striker on other. 2) Two celebratory beer steins. Superior German craftsmanship. Entirely hand painted. Incredible variety of splendid American patriotic motifs. One in full color. One identical in decorative design but not colored. The full color stein has the decorative pewter lid. Colored stein has bust of Admiral Dewey and is 8 ½” high. The other has Admiral Sampson, and is 5 ½” high. Both have a spread eagle over crossed US flags, rococo scroll work borders with gilding, portrait surrounded by green wreath with red berries, and last area has spread eagle with American shield on breast. This style stein from Germany is the rarest form. 3) The Bullet Cigar and Tobacco Humidor is in the same shape as the Dewey Bullet Lantern. Heavy pressed steel, 8” tall, the bottom having a brass finish, the top having a lustrous blue black finish. The bullet portion lifts off; inside the bullet is a cavity for a damp sponge. Fairly large. 5” diameter at bottom. 4) The Commodore Coffee tin with lid measures 7 3/4" by 5 1/2". The tin features a U.S. and a Cuban flag on one side and a four-leaf clover design on the other. In the four-leaf clover are portraits of Admiral Dewey, Admiral Schley, Admiral Sampson, and Lieut. Hobson.

Rating Definition:

1) The match safes are in very good condition with minor discoloration and wear. 2) The steins are in excellent condition with minor cracking of the glaze on the interior and exterior. The Sampson stein is missing its lid. 3) The humidor is very good with scratches and minor wear on the plated finish, with minor cracks on the bottom edge. 4) The tin is in fair condition with wear and missing paint. There is also a heavy rub to Admiral Sampson's face.
