The stock and handguard are oil finished black walnut. The left side of the receiver has the two line marking: "U.S./MODEL 1898. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 400115". The left side of the stock wrist is stamped with the script "JLA/1902". An encircled script "P" firing proof is stamped on the stock wrist behind the trigger guard. The rifle is accompanied by a correct Krag bayonet marked "US" on one side of the ricasso and "1900" on the other. The bayonet measures 16" in total length.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. Approximately 75% faded original blue finish remains on the barrel showing slight muzzle wear and some minor overall spotting. The receiver also retains about 70% original dark blue finish thinning along high points with minor surface scratches and handling marks. The wood is excellent with only a few mild pressure marks and scratches as well as a small repair on the right side of the forearm between the rear barrel band and muzzle. The bayonet is very good with minor scattered spotting.
