Description:

The shelf clock stands 23" tall and has a bust portrait of General Fitzhugh Lee at top. The case is made of oak and decorated with carved war themed motif. The upper and lower wings have cannons and cannon balls, with flags on the lower. There are anchors and stars on the base. The glass door features gold leaf eagle and double flags over crossed sabers, a cannon, bugle, and stacked rifles and drum flanking olive branches. The door itself has two brass hinges and a brass clasp. The clock has an eight day, wind up time and strike movement. The weighted pendulum features a relief stand of flags, eagle and shield with two cannons on the bottom bordered with olive branches and stars. Made by the E. Ingraham Company of Bristol, Ct. This is one in a series of clocks that are identical and issued with different portraits. This one is among the rarest that were issued. Includes the wind up key.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The glass needs to be reset in the door, an easy fix and the face of the clock shows some wear and light stains from moisture. The consignor reports that the clock should be cleaned, oiled and adjusted before winding.
