Description:

1) US Cavalry tunic. According to information provided by the consignor, this tunic was procured in the field due to shortages in the United States. Tan khaki construction. A considerable portion of the sewing was hand done. Has stand-up collar with gilt brass, pin-back crossed sabers. Standard five brass eagle button front. Shoulder straps with eagle button. Two patch pockets with closing flap, no button, and boxed pleat down front of each. Chevron cuff facings. One closure hook missing from collar. 2) Rare 1898 Infantry officer's blue serge field service blouse. One of the uniform options for officers of the era, but it was seldom chosen and thus this style of blouse is rarely seen. Material is dark blue gabardine with a ribbed texture, showing a lay down collar with embroidered "U.S." and "8/ (crossed rifles)" on each side, eagle buttons with "I" on the shields, a pair of Lieutenant's shoulder bars, four external pockets and one internal pocket. Lined with brown and white fabric.

Rating Definition:

1) Excellent. 2) Very good, with some material loss concentrated on the collar and mild overall staining.
