Description:

Consignor states that this is the only one he has encountered in decades. The cap is in the shape of a typical pill-box with a rather wide and nearly flat visor. The cap is made from navy wool with the visor being made of leather with fabric on top with a leaf design embroidered on it. The embroidery appears to be a thread covered in a coiled metal. There is also a grosgrain headband that circles the cap. On the front in the center of the headband is an eagle on shield against crossed anchors embroidered from the same material as the leaves. The cap strap is ½” wide bullion with Navy buttons at each end. The interior of the cap has a leather sweatband and satin lining that was hand stitched in.

Rating Definition:

The cap is in fair condition with some wear and tearing. The inside lining of the cap is torn and a portion of it is missing. The applied design on the bill of the cap is showing wear and age. Where the bill of the cap attaches there is some tearing. The leather sweatband on the inside of the cap is worn in the front, a portion of it is missing on the side, and is coming loose in the back. The metal grommet on the inside of the cap is oxidizing.
