Description:

1) The Spanish Cavalry bugle measures 12" length by 6" width and the width of the bell is 3 1/2". The bugle does have a tag glued to the bell describing the provenance and is hand-written in ink, "from fight at the Chinese Hospital, Manila P.L. Feb. 1899 By 10th, Regt. Pennsylvania Vol. Inf.". There is also an engraving on the reinforced bell "Ejercito de Ultrama-". The bugle is solid brass, very dark, and has a red cord wrapped around the bugle and still has one of the original tassels. There is also a thin piece of leather over the cording where the bugle is held. 2) The pocket map is of the Philippine Islands and measures 21" length by 13 3/4" width. There is an enlarged section of "MANILA PROVINCE AND VICINITY. SHOWING SEAT OF WAR." The map is in color and folds into a paper sleeve to which it is attached.

Rating Definition:

1) The bugle is in good condition with minor denting. The cording has only a few frays in it and the leather does show some wear. 2) The pocket map is in good very good condition with the only damage being to the corners of the cover. The map and cover do have some discoloration.
