A) Unique Serial Number 1 Engraved Medium Size Blunt & Syms Double Action Pepperbox

Description:

With Mariette under hammer mechanism and no markings other than a "1" on the head on the barrel screw and a "P" on the face of the barrels. Scroll and border framed engraving on the frame and back strap. Smooth bag style varnished grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains approximately 50-60% of the original blue finish mixed with a smooth dark patina with some light scattered pitting on the barrels and a small deep pit on the top of the frame. The frame is mostly a brown patina. The grips are very fine with most of the varnish remaining and scattered minor dings and nicks. The engraving is clear.

Description:

Very light border engraving on the sides of the frame and back strap, the only visible marking is "LONDON" on the left side of the frame and English proofs in each barrel flute. Under hammer action and smooth bag shaped grips.

Rating Definition:

Fair. All metal surfaces have a dark patina with scattered overall minor pitting. The grips are good with 50% varnish and scattered minor dings and dents. Two of the nipples are partially missing and the nipple dividers are battered. The action is fine.
