Description:

This Joseph Rider invention is one of the most unusual of 19th century pocket pistols and one of the few metallic cartridge weapons using a tubular magazine. It is chambered for the 32 extra short rimfire cartridge that are loaded from the muzzle end of the five round magazine located under the barrel. The top of the barrel is marked " E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N Y / RIDERS PAT. AUG. 15TH. 1871". Blade front sight with the rear sight being a hole through the cocking lever. Plain rosewood grips. Remington only manufactured about 10,000 of these pistols from 1871 to 1888.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains approximately 97% of the original nickel finish with some thinning and high edge wear. The frame has a slightly "foggy" appearance, a bit darker on the back strap. The grips are excellent with some flakes in the finish and overall scattered minor dings, scratches and dents. The barrel marking is crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
