This James Burrow made double rifle features a blade front and fixed rear with a folding leaf sights on the matte solid rib and a sling eye mounted on the underside. The left barrel is marked "JAMES BURROW 500. EXPRESS. 3." SOLID CASE." and the right "116 FISHERGATE. PRESTON. 6035 136. GRS. POWDER. & 340. GRS. BULLET.". The lock plates are both marked "JAMES BURROWS" . The receiver, lower sides of the breech block, hammers, tangs, trigger guard, grip cap center, forearm release lever and break lever are finely scroll engraved. The top of the breech has a textured pattern. Blue barrels and buttplate and case hardened remaining parts. The matching serial number is marked on the frame, barrels and lower tang. Checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with steel grip cap, steel buttplate, sling swivel eye and silver initial oval. Complete with a black leather and oak locking case with red flannel lining, all brass fixtures including corner protectors, leather handle and two leather straps and the key.

Very fine. The barrels have approximately 80% faded original blue with the balance a smooth pleasing plum. The casehardened parts retain approximately 90% original bright case colors with the lower tang faded to a smooth gray. The buttplate retains approximately 50% of the blue finish with areas of smooth gray and mottled brown patina. The wood is very fine with overall minor dings, dents and handling marks. The checkering remains crisp. The markings and engraving are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
