Description:

Manufactured in 1896, as part of a revolver series that had numerous different model designations during the course of production. Equipped with a half moon front sight and a notch rear sight, checkered hammer and smooth trigger and a six round fluted cylinder. The cylinder crane, frame and cylinder latch are marked with the same partial serial number "1887", the left side of the frame is marked with the "RAC" and "L.E.B." inspectors marks, "R.A.C." on the rear of the cylinder, "P" and "K" on the underside of the barrel and "U.S./ ARMY/ MODEL/ 1896/ No/ 141/ 887" in one block on the butt. Finished with two piece oiled walnut grips marked with a "1900/JTT" cartouche on the left and also double stamped "R.A.C." on the bottom of the left grip and a cartouche on the right.

Rating Definition:

Very good. Over 90% original blue finish remains on the barrel showing typical holster type high point wear with a few scattered surface scratches and handling marks. The cylinder exhibits 90% original finish with some thinning and high point wear. The frame retains approximately 95% original blue finish showing wear along the high edge as well as some handling marks and a few light surface scratches. The right side of the frame has a small square of tape residue. The grips are very good with a few casual pressure marks and scuffs the markings are all still crisp.
