This model 88 rifle has had the barrel replaced with a part octagon with a solid matte rib, ramp front and two leaf rear sights. The top of the rib is marked "C.G. HAENEL SULH, GERMANY" and there is a sling swivel mounted on the bottom. The receiver and magazine have been case colored and the left side of the receiver ring is marked "2,75g G.B.P. / St m. G". The receiver has a matte texture. The bolt and handle are polished. It is equipped with adjustable double set triggers and is mounted on a one piece round knob checkered stock with a cheek piece, steel buttplate and sling swivel. There is no visible serial number on the rifle. The buttplate is marked "3972".

Custom modified with a smooth artificial brown patina on the barrel. The action retains much of the vivid case colors and the bolt assembly remains bright and is absent of any discoloration. The magazine and trigger guard retain 95% of the case colors with smooth gray on the high edges. The stock is excellent with a few light handling marks and sharp checkering. The action is excellent
