The top barrel flat is marked "PATENTED SEPT. 14. 1858 / E.REMINGTON & SONS. ILION.NEW YORK U. S." German silver cone front sight with grooved top strap rear sight. It has the slot in the loading lever and brass trigger guard with two piece walnut grips numbered in pencil to the revolver. Matching serial number on the barrel and left side of the frame under the grip. There is a small "B" inspector mark on left side of barrel and frame with another on cylinder. Only about 8,000 of these revolvers were made in 1862, most of which were purchased by U.S. Government.

Rating Definition:

Fine. All metal parts have a brownish/gray mottled patina except for approximately 60% original blue remaining on the cylinder as well as some light spotting. The balance is a brownish mottled patina (with traces of blue in the protected areas). The grips are very fine with a few minor nicks and scratches and retain most of their original finish with moderate edge wear.  Mechanics are sound.
