Considered to be one of the most accurate and best made .22 caliber rifles manufactured prior to the close of WWII. These rifles were used primarily as training rifle throughout the war and during the post war years. This rifle has been refurbished to custom status and no original military markings remain other than the "M2" on the action and "S.A. 1232 M2" on the right side of the breech. The left side of the barrel is marked "LONG RIFLE/CARTRIDGE ONLY". The front of the receiver and midway down the barrel have been drilled and tapped for scope mounts. Raised ramp front sight with a receiver mounted adjustable peep sight. The rifle has been restocked by a master stock maker with fine line checkered English walnut with a Schnabel forearm, black pistol grip cap and checkered buttplate. Writer believes this rifle needs research as the quality is every bit as good as Griffin & Howes of the pre-war era.

Near mint as professionally built with 99.8% blue remains on all metal surfaces showing only the slightest handling marks. The wood is excellent plus, with the checkering is sharp. This may be one of the best custom Springfield 22's we have offered. The stock work is outstanding.
