A) Italian Made Japanese Bolt Action Rifle

Description:

Manufactured In Italy For Japan During WW II. Polished bolt, cleaning rod, bayonet lug, leather sling and steel buttplate. The only visible markings on the rifle are the serial number on the left side of the barrel at the breech, a "PE" on the bolt handle, a boxed "A" on the left rear of the trigger guard and an arrow and symbol on the left side of the trigger guard.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The rifle retains approximately 95% original finish with some minor pitting on the forward barrel band and muzzle end of the barrel. The stock is good with a couple of small gouges and overall scattered minor dings, dents and nicks. The replacement sling is excellent. The action is fine.

Description:

The rifle was manufactured at the Toriimatsu factory under the Nagoya Arsenal and the top of the receiver has the Chrysanthemum still present. The left side of the receiver has the "Series Ten" mark next to the serial number and the Nagoya Arsenal factory mark. The rear sight is the late fixed peep and inverted "V" front without guards, the late cylindrical bolt handle, short rear handguard, two-piece forestock, two piece buttstock with the wooden "Nailed" on buttplate, welded safety, welded front barrel band and large stock reinforcing bolt.

Rating Definition:

Very good. Metal surfaces retain 90-95% of the original arsenal milled and blue finish showing handling marks and scattered patches of spotting. The wood is fair with pressure marks and scratches throughout and has a duffle bag cut under the rear barrel band.

Description:

This is a no series type 44 carbine as produced in the Koishikawa Arsenal. The top of the receiver has an untouched Royal Chrysanthemum and the Kanji markings "4/4/ Type". The left side of the receiver has the serial number along with the Arsenal mark and a sub-inspector mark after that. The bolt is mismatched to the rifle and numbered "433".

Rating Definition:

Excellent. 90-95% original arsenal blue finish overall with thinning on top of the receiver, the floorplate with browning on the trigger guard bow and sides of the front barrel band. The stock has been sanded and varnished and has a crack on the right side on the pistol grip.
