Description:

This revolver features a round iron trigger guard, and backstrap, inverted "V" brass front sight and percussion shield cut-out with capping groove. The left barrel flat is marked "AMERICAN-COLT". The 6-shot cylinder is roll engraved with a Naval Battle scene and stamped with a "crown/B" proof mark over a crown oval "E / LG / star". Simple floral engraved frame with an alternating and interlocking oval and diamond pattern on three of the barrel flats, back strap and trigger guard. The area around the wedge features a zig-zag border and simple floral engraved pattern. It appears that the metal surfaces were nickel finished with a casehardened hammer. Fitted with ivory grips.

Rating Definition:

Fair, with the metal surfaces exhibiting large areas of pin prick pitting with smooth dark coloring underneath. The cylinder engraving is mostly obscured from the pitting and the frame and barrel engraving is mostly visible. The hammer retains vivid case-color. The grips are good with smooth brown color and some minor handling marks. Mechanically functions, but needs work as it does not lock up. From the Will Hoffeld Collection.
