Description:

This revolver features a brass square trigger guard, brass back strap, brass bead front sight and percussion shield cut-out without a capping groove. The top barrel flat is marked "COLT / BREVETE" and "ADDRESS SAML COLT / NEW YORK". The full serial number is marked on the barrel, frame and trigger guard along with "DR". The cylinder is roll engraved with the Dragoon scene and a "crown / C" proof mark over an oval "E / LG" proof mark that was standard after 1849. The initials "J.V." and the number "17" are marked on butt and another "crown / C" proof is stamped on the barrel.

Rating Definition:

Fine with the barrel having traces of blue with the balance mostly brown patina and the "silvered out" case hardened frame exhibiting a dark mottled patina. The cylinder exhibits a smooth silver patina with sharp engraving and proof marks. The brass has been polished at one time and is now beginning to age again. There are slight traces of silver around the trigger guard joints. The grips are very good with some minor handling marks and a collection of light nicks on the butt. Provenance: Bob Lawerence and Will Hoffeld.
