Description:

Manufactured in 1860. The revolver has a three-inch octagon barrel with no provision for a loading lever. Wells Fargo Model 1849 revolvers have been seen in the 164000 serial number block. The top of the barrel is marked "{ADDRESS SAML COLT / NEW YORK CITY}". The five-shot cylinder is roll-engraved with the stagecoach hold-up scene. "COLTS/ PATENT" is stamped on the left side of the frame and "M" on the left trigger guard shoulder. Matching serial numbers on the barrel, trigger guard, frame (there is an "8" marked below the serial number), backstrap and cylinder with the partial serial number (64087) on the wedge. Fitted with a one piece varnished grip.

Rating Definition:

Good. The cylinder exhibits a mottled gray patina with the rest of the iron surface exhibiting a smooth dark patina. The brass retains 40% of the original silver plating mostly in the protected areas. The grip is good with chipped toes and some minor scratches and dings. There are some light traces of the cylinder engraving remaining. The markings are very faint. Mechanically good. From the Will Hoffeld collection, purchased from Doug Janke in July 1980.
