Description:

Manufactured from 1868 to 1880. Commonly referred to as the "Vest Pocket" or "Watch-Fob" Derringer with a total quantity estimated less than 3,000. This is the First Type with the vertical "FRANK WESSON / WORCESTER, MASS / PAT DEC 15, 1868" marking on both sides of the barrel. It has the "Watch-Fob" round type hammer with circular piercing in it and the desirable sliding dirk in the center section between the two manual rotating barrels. The muzzles of the barrel are crowned and the frame is brass. Fitted with the rarely seen ivory bird head grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrels retain 30% blue with the balance a smooth brown patina with most of the blue finish in the protected areas. The brass has a smooth mellow aged patina with some light dings. The grips are very good plus with a smooth yellow patina and some light age cracking. There is some shrinkage. The markings are very legible.
