Also known as the "Saw Handle" Deringer, manufactured between 1865 and 1888. Standard two line Remington Ilion address and 1861 patent information on top of frame, serial numbered barrel, dual function hammer/ breechblock, flared and contoured butt and smooth grips. Scroll engraving with punch-dot background is present on the sides of the frame, with a border around the patent markings. The grips are smooth ivory with a scrimshawed scroll and dot pattern.

Period refinished, with half of the heavily buffed nickel, showing a gray patina on the backstrap and sides of the frame, mild overall tool marks and scattered spotting. Grips are originals that were embellished in the late 20th Century, with mild shrinkage, a few cracks in the right panel, and a fine aged color. Action is fine.
