Description:

This English flintlock pocket pistol was manufactured circa 1790 to 1810. The lock is marked "W / KETLAND / & CO", the top of the brass barrel is marked "LONDON" and the left rear of the barrel has two recessed ovals with unreadable markings. The barrel tang, hammer, lock plate, frizzen, flash pan, trigger and spring are iron and the remaining parts are brass. The one piece walnut stock is pin fastened, is stamped with a "MS" on the left flat and the wooden ramrod has a flat brass tip.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The iron surfaces have a smooth mottled gray patina and the brass has an aged patina. The barrel has a protective coat of lacquer applied. The stock is good with scattered minor dings, dents and scratches. The action is fine. From the Will Hoffeld collection.
