The top of the barrel is marked "G: SPLENY". Top of barrel hallmarked "MK", reportedly Mithias Keller (possibly a colonial pistol of the 1770 period). Curled trigger and all brass mounts with a simple dogs with floral engraved butt cap. Maple stock with simple carved outlines and a floral design on the rear.
Good. The brass has a dark mottled patina and a smooth dark patina on the action. The brass exhibits a smooth aged patina with a few minor dings in the butt cap with a clear engraving. The wood is good with a moderate chip around the lock plate, some minor handling marks and some moderate gouges. From the Will Hoffeld Collection, purchased from Gary Montapert.
Manufactured circa 1770-1793. The lock plate is marked "TOW", a shop in London that made flintlock holster pistols and flintlock carbines under contract with the East India Company. The top of the barrel is marked "LONDON" and single "crown / GP", boxed "IT" and "crown / V" proofs on the left side of the barrel. Plain walnut stock with all brass mounts.
Good. The barrel has been cleaned at one time and is now beginning to age again. The action has a smooth dark patina. The brass has a smooth aged patina. The wood is very good with some minor scratches and nicks and a few minor pressure dents. The action functions, but does not have the full cock position. From the Will Hoffeld Collection.
