Description:

Round barrel with blade front sight with bead and the target tang sight is missing. "R. HINE" marked on the back action lock and near the nipple.(reportedly Riley Hine, Croton, NY 1874-1882) Maple half stock with typical dueler grip, brass butt inlay, pewter forend cap and iron trigger guard. Complete with maple ramrod that extends about a 1/2 inch from the muzzle.

Rating Definition:

Good with the metal surfaces exhibiting a smooth silver patina with the hammer exhibiting a smooth dark patina mixed with the beginnings of a smooth silver patina. The grip has been repaired, otherwise the wood is very good with the grip and action area having a smooth dark aged patina and some minor nicks and scratches overall. Mechanically needs work. From the Will Hoffeld collection, purchased from Richard Jones.
