Description:

Produced between 1870 and 1872. German silver pinned blade front and latch notch rear sight, with "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. PAT. JULY 10. 60. JAN. 17. FEB. 17.JULY 11. 65 & AUG. 24. 69"marked on top of the barrel in one line flanked by Maltese crosses. Assembly number marked "14" on the barrel, latch, cylinder and the right side of the grip frame, with the serial number on the butt, casehardened hammer and trigger guard, and smooth flared butt walnut grips with matching number on the right panel.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with approximately 45% of the original blue finish, strongest on the frame and barrel around the cylinder, with a smooth gray and brown patina overall, mild dings and tiny amounts of spotting. Grips are good, with dents and scratching. Mechanically very good.
