Produced between 1887 and 1910, the Number Three Target was Smith & Wesson's first handgun purpose-made for target shooting. Paine bead front sight with adjustable notch rear sight fitted to the barrel latch. Rib has the two line address and patent markings, flanked by Maltese crosses. Barrel latch numbered "623", all other numbers matching. Casehardened hammer and trigger guard, smooth trigger and checkered two piece hard rubber grips with Smith & Wesson imprints and matching number inside the right panel.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with 85% of the nickel finish. A gray steel patina is visible on the grip straps, the right side of the barrel and along the high edges, with a brown patina on the left side of the barrel near the cylinder, and scattered dings and spotting. Grips are very good, with a few light pressure dents and a fine brown color on the exterior. Mechanically fine.
