Description:

Produced in 1876 and 1877, with many purchased surplus by Bannerman and other dealers. Blade front sight and latch notch rear sight, with the two line address and patent markings on the left side of the ejector housing. The Second Model latch hardware is finished in blue, with a casehardened checkered hammer and replaced Russian trigger guard, with a finger rest spur. This spur appears original to the trigger guard, as opposed to a later welded addition. Barrel, cylinder and frame are marked "E" and "P", with "US" on the butt with the serial number. Smooth square butt hardwood grips.

Rating Definition:

Period re-plated, with most of the nickel finish, with some flaking and a brown patina around the side plate and along the high edges, a light brown patina forming at the rear of the barrel, minor pitting on the breech and grip straps, and mild frosting and handling marks overall. Grips are undersized and reoiled, with mild pressure dents. Mechanically excellent.
