Description:

Manufactured from 1878 to 1912, considered by some to be the best single action revolver of the 1800s. Pinned blade front and latch notch rear sights on the barrel, which is marked with the two line S&W address and patent markings with a Maltese cross on the front. The barrel is mismatched to the frame. The barrel is scroll engraved on the sides extending from the muzzle and breech, zig-zag patterns on the lug, underside, and top strap. The frame has floral patterns on the hinge, scrollwork on the sides, and zig-zags below the cylinder, down the backstrap and in a banner running across the side plate. Casehardened hammer and smooth mother of pearl grips.

Rating Definition:

Good, with some traces of the original nickel finish, strongest on the underside of the frame, inside the flues and on the barrel lug, with a dull gray patina overall and some light spotting and handling marks. Grips are very good. Mechanically fine. As noted above, the barrel does not match the frame
