Description:

Originally this model was only chambered in .44/40 Winchester, but due to lagging sales some 800 were converted to . 44 Russian prior to shipping, hence the different numbered cylinder. Only 2,072 total in either caliber of this long (1 9/16") cylinder model were produced from 1885-1910 and they are numbered in a separate serial number range from 1 to 2,072. Square blade front sight with bead and adjustable rear sight mounted on the latch. Standard two line address and patent date marking on rib flanked by Maltese crosses. The cylinder is numbered "548", with "575" on the butt. Casehardened hammer and trigger guard and checkered hard rubber grips with Smith & Wesson logos. A very difficult target model to obtain for one's collection.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with over 95% of the original nickel finish, slightly frosted on the frame and a few areas of flaking, minor pitting on the leading edge of the cylinder and a few light handling marks. Bright and vivid case colors are visible on the hammer. Grips are very good, with some light scratches. Mechanically very good.
