Description:

Produced between 1872 and 1874, this model added the interlocking hammer and barrel latch as an improvement over the 1st Models, along with the enlarged frame boss around the trigger pin. Fitted with a pinned blade front sight and latch notch rear, with the one line Maltese cross flanked address on the rib. In addition, a set of London "crown/ V" and "crown/ GP" proofs are present on the left side of the barrel and alternating behind the flutes on the cylinder. It is quite rare to encounter an American Model with British proofs as very few were shipped to England. The barrel, latch, cylinder and right side of the grip frame are numbered "272", with the serial number on the butt and the left grip panel. Checkered casehardened hammer with a blue trigger, nickel trigger guard and smooth flared butt walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with 80% of the original nickel finish, slightly frosted on the frame with scatted flaking, streaks of bright gray with brown spotting on the barrel, a gray patch on the right side of the frame near the hammer, and mild handing marks. Bright case colors are visible on the protected area of the hammer. Grips are very good, with mild pressure dents. Mechanically fine.
