Serial numbered 1 -59,400 and manufactured from 1909 to 1920, the Perfected Model was the final improvement of the .38 double Action series, being built on a solid frame with an integral trigger guard. This model is unique among Smith & Wessons, in that it has a dual latch system composed of the standard top-break mechanism along with a thumb style latch on the frame, and was a favorite of police agencies for many years due to the safety of the dual latch system. Standard two line Springfield address/patent date rib marking, one line left barrel caliber marking and trademark on the left side of the frame. Half moon front sight and top strap notch rear sight Blue finish with casehardened trigger and hammer, and checkered hard rubber grips with Smith and Wesson monograms at the tops. Complete with matching numbered 3 1/4 inch barrel with standard patent date markings.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains approximately 95% of the blue finish with gray patina on the high edges and some minor spotting of brown patina. There are some streaks of gray patina on the barrel. The grips are excellent with some minor dings and scratches mostly on the butt. The checkering is sharp. The hammer and trigger retain strong amounts of vivid and bright case color. The markings are clear. The extra barrel retains 98% of the original blue finish with some minor muzzle wear and a couple of patches of smooth gray patina.
