William Westley Richards founded his own company in 1812 at 82 High St., Birmingham. This shotgun features casehardened action and tangs with the remaining surfaces blue. Two ivory bead sights on the matte solid rib with dolls head extension, choked full/cylinder chambered for 2 1/2" shells with ejectors. The top of the right barrel is marked ""WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO LONDON" and the left "VON LENGERKE & ANTOINE CHICAGO. AGENTS" . The action, trigger guard, break lever and forearm hardware are nicely engraved with fine English scroll patterns and "WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO" marked in a banner on each side of the action. The serial number is relief engraved on the lower tang. The top of the receiver is marked "WESTLEY RICHARDS / PATENT ONE TRIGGER" between the doll's head and break lever. The water table is marked with patent numbers and "crown / BV" proofs. Tang safety and single trigger with selector mounted to the right. This shotgun is mounted with extra fancy European checkered walnut splinter forearm with a horn forend tip and round knob pistol grip stock with checkered tear drop flats, a vented red recoil pad with a leather covered butt and gold initial oval on the bottom which is engraved "DR. M.F. ROGERS / MILWAUKEE". Complete in a leather bound hard takedown case with leather corner protectors and maroon wool lining.

Excellent. The barrels retains 98% of the original finish with some light wear on the muzzle end and on the bottoms of the barrels where the forearm makes contact, and a few scattered minor scratches. The trigger guard and lower receiver plate retain approximately 50% original finish mixed with a smooth brown patina. The lower receiver tang retains most of the original bright case colors. The receiver and forearm hardware have faded to a smooth satin gray. The wood is excellent with a few overall scattered minor dings and dents, and crisp checkering. The markings and engraving remain crisp and clear. Mechanically fine. The case is good with some light to moderate edge wear and scattered minor scratches and scuffs. The lining is very good with one area of wear from contact with the rib extension.
