Manufactured in 1908. This is third type action with the visible locking lug on the breechblock protruding through the sides of the receiver. The two-line Winchester address and patent dates as well as "MODEL 1890" and "22 LONG" are marked on the top flat of the octagonal barrel. Blade front sight and replacement fixed notch rear sight. Plain straight grip walnut stock and 12 grooved slide handle. Crescent steel buttplate and 3/4 length tubular magazine. Model 1890s in the "22 Long" cartridge are scarce with a portion of the production being made in each of the non-standard calibers.

Very good. The barrel and magazine tube retain approximately 90% of the original faded blue finish with a balance of smooth brown patina and the muzzle has a minor dent. There are several areas of old hand rust present on the barrel. The frame retains approximately 80-85% of the blue finish with some fine surface scratches, gray patina on the high edges and some patches of smooth gray-brown patina. Both tangs, trigger guard and buttplate exhibit a smooth gray patina. Overall, there is some moderate pitting and some minor surface rust. The wood is excellent with some minor dings, dents and scratches. The markings are clear and crisp.
