This is a Second Model rifle with the takedown feature and casehardened frame that was produced before 1908. The top of the barrel is marked "-MANUFACTURED BY THE-/ -WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A." ahead of the rear sight and "22 W.R.F." marked action face. The upper tang is marked "WINCHESTER/ - MODEL 1890 -/ PAT. JUNE 25-88. DEC. 6-92." with the lower tang marked with the serial number. It has the 12-groove walnut forearm and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate. The underside of the buttstock behind the tang is marked "G.D. HALL 1891". No research has been done on this marking at this time.

Very good, with 60% of the original blue finish intermixed with a brown patina on the barrel, magazine tube and bolt, and a mixture of blue, brown and bright steel on the action bar. A patch of pitting is visible on the left flat of the barrel near the end of the magazine, some bright steel is visible on the high edges, and light handling marks. Some spotting is visible on the frame, which still shows a large amount of vivid case color. Very good stock, with some darkening of the finish and light pressure dents. Action is excellent.
