This rifle was manufactured in 1946 in a rare single caliber (.22 LR) configuration with an octagon barrel. Marked on the left side of the barrel "-WINCHESTER/ PROOF STEEL-" followed by "-MODEL 61-", "WINCHESTER / -TRADE MARK-" and "-22 LONG R.-". Two Winchester proof marks are located on the top of the barrel and receiver. The rifle features a silver bead front sight mounted on a dovetail blade and an adjustable sporting rear sight, 3/4 length magazine tube, a 17 groove flat bottom slide handle with a smooth pistol grip stock and checkered metal buttplate. Magazine tube loading port has been altered to a gallery style.

Excellent with approximately 90% of the finish remaining, thinning at the muzzle and high edges. Scattered spotting and pin point pitting on the sides of the barrel. Normal usage marks and pressure dents on the slide handle and butt stock. The action is smooth and the bore is excellent.
