This rifle was manufactured in 1948. Marked on the top of the barrel "MADE IN NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S. OF AMERICA/WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL-" followed by "WINCHESTER / -TRADE MARK-" and "MODEL 61 S.L. OR L.R.". Two Winchester proof marks are located on the top of the barrel and receiver. The rifle features dovetail blade front sight and an adjustable sporting rear sight, 3/4 length magazine tube, a 17 groove flat bottom slide handle with a smooth pistol grip stock and checkered metal buttplate. Receiver is custom, non-factory floral engraved on both sides, top and bottom, and on the trigger guard. The left side of the receiver has a picture of a dog barking up a tree, and the right side features a rabbit running inside of an oval over the word "BARNARD."

Very good with 95-97% of the finish remaining. Magnificent deluxe wood replacement forearm and stock have been refinished with only a few slight dings. Engraving is sharp.
