The top barrel flat is marked "S.S. BAIRD / CRITTENDEN VT" and the locks are marked "MOORE" with hunting bird scenes engraved on each lock as well. The hammers have light scroll engraving. Dove tailed globe front and elevator adjustable rear sights with a heart shaped tang peep sight. The top barrel is chambered for 36 caliber and the bottom 45 caliber. There is a wooden ramrod mounted on each side of the barrels, the right side has brass tips and the left side is a replacement. Double triggers and mounted with a straight grip stock with a square bottom brass trigger guard, a running deer inlay on the left side, small round patch box and long tanged buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrels retain much of the original thinning brown finish with high edge wear. The hammers and locks have a smooth gray patina. The brass has an aged patina. The stock has been lightly sanded and refinished with a few minor dings and dents. The markings and engraving are clear. The action is fine. Purchased in 1977 and from the Will Hoffeld Collection.
