Description:

This is a nice example of a U.S. Army issued Model 1901 Revolver, manufactured in 1901. The revolver has a high polish blue finish, with niter blue hammer and trigger, polished hammer sides and oil finished walnut grips with "JTT" cartouche on the left panel and "RAC" on the right. The barrel is marked "COLT D.A. 38" on the left side, and has the two line Colt address and patent dates on the top, "P" and "R.A.C." on the underside. The "R.A.C." inspector mark is repeated on the back of the cylinder, on the left side of the frame, the butt of both grip panels, and the butt is marked "U.S . / ARMY / MODEL / 1901" and "No/ 167/ 209" around the lanyard ring. The assembly number "7209" is stamped on the crane, the inside of the frame and on the cylinder latch.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains approximately 99% of the bright original high polish finish with minor thinning on the muzzle end of the barrel, top strap and grip straps. There is some minor flaking on the frame. The trigger and hammer retain almost all of the original bright niter blue finish and the hammer sides are beginning to show some discoloration. The grips are excellent except for the cartouches having been restamped, there is a minor chip on each heel and overall a few minor dents and handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
