Description:

Beginning in1915, a number of Model 1911 pistols were made available to N.R.A. members and affiliates. They are easily identified by the "N.R.A." marking on the right side of the receiver directly under the serial number. All of the Colt pistols were from 1915, 1916 and 1917 production. The pistols fall within the serial number range of 122279 to 164124 and it's estimated that only about 50 of the Colt Model 1911 pistols were marked N.R.A. and released. This pistol was manufactured in 1915 and falls within the serial number range. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block patent dates and address with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and the circle "GHS" inspection mark of Lt. Col. Gilbert H. Stewart on the left side of the frame above the magazine release. There is a small "H" stamped at the rear of the slide above the hammer. The right side of the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY" and the right side of the frame is marked with the serial number over "N.R.A.". The barrel is blue and is marked with a small "H" and "P" at the top of the chamber. The slide stop, thumb safety, magazine release and wide hammer spur are checkered. Flat main spring housing with a lanyard ring on the heel, correct two-tone unmarked magazine with a lanyard ring on the bottom and fitted with diamond pattern checkered walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains 98-99% of the original Colt blue finish with minor wear on the muzzle end of the slide and some high edge wear. There is some minor wear on the main spring housing with some smooth gray patina. There are a few minor dings and handling marks overall on the metal surfaces. The grips are near mint with a couple of minor dings and pressure dents, and the checkering remains sharp. The markings are sharp. The mechanics are excellent. An extremely rare variation of the Colt Model 1911 pistol.
