Model 1941 Johnson Sem Automatic Rifle with Bayonet, Scabbard and Manual

This is an excellent example of a Model 1941 Johnson Automatic Rifle manufactured by Cranston Arms Company. The Model 1941 Johnson was tested against the M-1 Garand Rifle by the Army and Marines before WWII. The unique design features a 10-round rotary magazine, two-piece walnut stock, perforated steel hand guard, removable barrel, distinctive cruciform and socket bayonet. The Model 1941 Johnson was purchased in quantity by the Netherlands to equip colonial troops in Java. The Japanese captured Java before most of the rifles could be delivered. In 1942, the Marine Corps acquired some of the Dutch Model 1941 Johnson Rifles and issued them to the Marine Parachute Battalion. The "Para-Marines" used some of these Johnson Rifles in combat in the South Pacific during 1942 and 1943. The rifle has a gray-green parkerized finish and an oil-finished walnut stock and forend. The receiver is fitted with tangent rear sight and is correctly graduated in meters. The barrel is marked ".30-06/41" on the front face of the collar and "J.A./30-06" on the chamber. The right rear of the receiver is stamped with a five-pointed star above "CRANSTON/ARMS/CO." in an inverted triangle. The top of the receiver is marked with the Johnson patent numbers in five lines followed by "CAL. 30-06-SEMI-AUTO/"JOHNSON AUTOMATICS"/MODEL OF 1941/MADE IN PROVIDENCE , R.I., U.S.A." in four lines over the serial number "4529". The bright finished bolt is numbered "7451" and the barrel lug is numbered "4981B" (Johnson parts numbers do not match the serial number). The distinctive, cruciform socket bayonet has a parkerized finish and is fitted with a russet leather scabbard with a pivoting steel bale to secure the bayonet in addition to the leather strap.

ConditionExcellent. The rifle retains 97% of the original parkerized finish. Markings are sharp. The bore is excellent. The stock is excellent with minor handling and storage marks. The bayonet has 98% of the original parkerized finish and the scabbard is in excellent condition. This is an excellent example of a caliber .30-06, Model 1941 Johnson semi automatic rifle.
