Description:

Nineteenth Century flintock Kentucky rifle with double-set triggers. The rifle has a striped maple wedge-fastened stock with cheekpiece and rounded comb. The stock has a brass forend cap, three brass ramrod ferrules, brass side plate, brass trigger guard with spur and crescent brass buttplate. The rifle has an elaborate brass patch box out-lined with engraving. The lock has a roller frizzen spring and detachable brass pan. The lock plate is marked: "PARTRIDGE" and engraved with a two-line border, a game scene and floral designs. The consigner's notes state that the underside of the barrel is marked "VERL-HULL". The rifle is fitted with a maple ramrod. The rifle appears to be in the original flintlock configuration.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrel has a deep brown patina with some wear on the edges. The lock and hammer have a dark patina was some scattered flash pitting. The brass furniture has a dark, un-polished patina. The stock is in very good condition with moderate handling wear visible damage or repairs. A good example of a 19th century Kentucky rifle in the flintlock configuration.
