Description:

This is an unaltered Colt manufactured 1921/28 "US Navy Over-Stamp" Thompson Submachine Gun. The: "MODEL OF 1921" markings on the left side of the receiver were altered by stamping "U.S. NAVY" above the model designation and stamping an "8" over the "1" in "1921" The right side of the butt is boldly stamped: "MARYSVILLE/POLICE DEPARTEMENT" in two lines. The primary difference between the original Model 1921 Thompsons and the later Model 1928 configurations is the addition of the Cutt's compensator a reduction in the cyclic rate of fire from 800 to 600 rounds per minute. The barrel, receiver and other components have a high polish blue finish. The bolt and internal components are nickel-plated. The stock, pistol grip and vertical forearm are oil-finished walnut. This weapon has a finned barrel, Auto Ordnance marked Cutt's compensator, and the fully adjustable Lyman rear sight graduated from 100-600 yards. The left side of the receiver is marked: "U.S. NAVY/MODEL OF 1921/NO 12378" in three lines with an "8" dated on the "1" in "1921". The left rear of the receiver is roll-stamped: "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45 AUTOMATIC COLT CARTRIDGE/MANUFACTURED BY COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A." in five lines. The right side of the receiver is boldly stamped: "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORSTION./NEW YORK. U.S.A." in two lines followed by the six line block of patent dates. The top of the receiver in front of the rear sight, is roll-stamped with the distinctive Thompson "Bullet" Trademark. This Thompson is complete with one 20-round stick and a new manufactured, FBI style, case with compartments for the weapon and accessories. The receiver and lower trigger assembly housing have matching serial numbers. This weapon is a fully transferable class III weapon that has the appropriate ATF/Federal Tax stamp. This is a Class III weapon, check for legality in your location.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus. The submachine gun retains nearly 98% of the original blue finish with only minor edge wear. The stock, pistol grip and vertical forearm in excellent condition. All three components have a matching finish. Wear is limited to some very minor handling marks on the butt stock. The FBI style carrying case is also in excellent condition. This is an exceptional and excellent example of a police-marked, "1921/8 Navy Over-Stamp" Thompson Submachine Gun.
