This is a late WWI Production Model 1903 rifle that was manufactured at Rock Island Arsenal. The top of the receiver is marked "US. / ROCK ISLAND / ARSENAL. / MODEL 1903." over the serial number and the barrel is marked "RIA / Ordnance bomb / 7-18" and the underside is marked "C114 / P". It is fitted with a Springfield marked bolt. The front sight is a blade on a raised ramp and the rear sight is graduated to 2700 yards. The stock is a later pattern straight grip with two reinforcing bolts, finger grooves, handguard marked with a circled "P" on the underside of the wrist and stamped "RI" on the forend. Bayonet lug, stacking swivel and smooth steel buttplate with compartment containing an original pull through barrel cleaner.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The metal surfaces retain approximately 80% of the fading original finish. The floor plate shows some light spotting and browning. The stock is good with a small repair on the right side of the stock at the barrel band and on the left heel. The stock shows signs of light cleaning, does not fit properly around the upper tang and there are a few scattered minor pressure dents and dings. The "P" has been double stamped. The markings are clear. The action is very good.
