Description:

This is an excellent example of the scarce and desirable original M1C sniper rifle complete with CMP documentation and shipping box. These rifles were the first true M1 sniper used during WWII through Vietnam, produced in the 3,250,000 to 3,800,000 serial number range with this rifle in the middle of that serial number block. This rifle is still equipped with the original WWII SA-1-45 dated barrel and the matching serial numbered bracket attached to the side of the receiver. It has the standard receiver markings that is correctly "NOT SA-52" marked. It has the correct WWII Springfield Armory uncut SA-9 operating rod with the complete SA marked trigger group. As noted the barrel is marked "3 SA 1 45" and it has the wide base gas cylinder assembly and the earlier locking bar rear sight. This rifle has a correct Korean war era Lyman Alaskan scope numbered "B5513" that is fitted with a set of 1903A4 scope rings, (the Griffin & Howe M1C mount is not included with this lot). The left side of the receiver has the matching M1C bracket numbered "3554244". It has the correct style walnut stock and handguard set with a circled "P" proof in the pistol grip area and the left side has a boxed "S.A./ N.F.R." cartouche. It is complete with a green canvas sling, unmarked leather right-handed cheekpiece, a RARE SA marked Milled M2 flashider, and the CMP shipping box. The M1C mounts are easy to local on the market and will restore this rifle back to it's original configuration.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall, with 98% of a blue/black finish on the receiver, barrel and various components. The gas cylinder assembly retains 95% of it finish with wear and fading on the gas cylinder lock. The stock is excellent, overall showing minimal handling marks with a nicely restamped cartouche on the side, with some handling marks. A very nice example of an original documented M1C sniper.
