Description:

This is a nice example of a pre-WWI service rifle that was probably rebuilt in the post WWI/ early WWII time frame, that retains most of its original parts. The top of the receiver is marked "U.S. /SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/MODEL 1903/425466" and the barrel is marked "SA/10-10". The rifle still has the original pre-war high hump handguard and pre-war finger groove, straight grip "S" style stock with a single reinforcing bolt that has a boxed "L.S.A.A" cartouche on the right side, with a single boxed "P" proof in the pistol grip area. On the right side of the buttstock it is stamped in large letters "P-19". The bolt is a correct early straight handled version with a single small gas hole that is marked with a letter "D" on the underside of the safety lug and a letter "I" under the bolt handle. It is fitted with a fixed front sight, service rear sight and the correct milled 1903 components.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall, with 93% of an arsenal reparkerized finish thinning on top of the receiver and trigger guard bow as well as the edges and high spots. The stock and handguard both have a nice original dark stained and oiled finish that shows the typical handling marks, light pressure dents and dings in areas from actual field use. Still a very nice example of a early pre-WWI 1903 service rifle.
